State government decided to give 14% Dearness Allowance for Kerala State employees. Government have ordered revision of rates of Dearness Allowance payable to State Government Employees, Teachers, Staff of Aided Schools, Private Colleges and Polytechnics, Full Time employees borne on the contingent and work charged establishments and employees of Local Bodies w.e.f. 01.01.2010. The revised rate of DA is 78%.
This will be with effective from 1st January 2010.
The revised rate of D.A. due from 01.01.2010 (additional 14%) will be paid in cash with the salary due for the month of August, 2010 onwards. The arrears for the period from 01.01.2010 to 31.07.2010 will be drawn and credited to the PF account of the employee along with the salary bill for the month of August, 2010 to February, 2011
Government have also revised the rate of Dearness Relief with effect from 01.01.2010 to State Service Pensioners and Family Pensioners and also to the Pensioners/Family Pensioners coming under UGC/AICTE/Medical Education Schemes (who retired prior to 01.07.2004 and whose pension/family pension has been revised as per G.O.(P) No.81/07/Fin. dated 28.02.2007)
Pay commission for revision of pay scale for government employees in Kerala
The state government Wednesday decided to constitute a Pay Commission to recommend revision of scales for government employees and teachers in the state headed by Justice Rajendra Babu.Pay revision, matters relating to pension amount, promotion and other allowances will be some of the major agenda in the terms and reference of the commission.
A 30-member Commission secretariat would also be constituted. Economist at the Centre of Development Studies P Mohanan Pilla and Advocate P Venugopalan Nair are the other members of the commission.
There are about 4.5 lakh government employees and teachers in the state and their pay scales were last revised in early 2006.
Kerala Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said that the State government would appoint the Ninth Pay Revision Commission during the current financial year. He also said the recommendations of the pay commission would be implemented in the financial year 2010-11.
Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has called for a meeting with representatives of state government employees to discuss a revision of pay scales.
“This meeting is the first step (towards pay hike) and has been called to listen to what their (employees’) needs are. After this, we will set up the Ninth Pay Commission. We expect that employees will be able to draw a revised salary by April 1, 2011,” Isaac.
