The Home Ministry has allowed flexi-hours for it's employees with a maximum relaxation of two hours to attend social obligations or visit a doctor but they have to ensure a 40-hour work schedule in the week.
The duration of late coming/early departure is to be compensated by devoting such extra hours of work so as to ensure the 40-hour work schedule for the entire week is maintained,Home Secretary G.K. Pillai said.
The arrangement has been made after the ministry employees made two representations to Home Minister P Chidambaram on November 19 last year and March 3 this year.
Late coming between 15 and 30 minutes can be relaxed keeping in view transport problems, traffic congestion in the city or any other unforeseen eventuality subject to the condition that the duration of late arrival is compensated by sitting late in the evening, preferably the same day or any other day of the week, according to the order.

Sir/Madam,
This is really a very good news for all the central Govt. employees working under home ministry and with this I want to know whether this facility can be extended to all centrally controlled employees working under different ministries viz, civilian employees working under ministry of defence , employees working under ministry of railways across the country under the same guideline.
