Sixth pay benefits to college teachers in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Government is on the way to implement the Sixth Pay Commission scales for college and university level teachers in the state within a month.

Higher and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Tope said during question hour that
the issue will be discussed in the cabinet and that arrears for last three years amounting to Rs 1,500 crore, would be paid.

The delay in the payment of the Sixth pay commission recommended pay scales by the Maharashtra govt embarrasses the teaching community.It's really difficult understand why the state govt still puts every proposal on the back burner though it is cleared by the Centre? Especially, when the funds are made available?It is difficult to rationalize the so-called hesitancy on the part of the state govt.
